Nissan North America Wetland Restoration

BDY performed an initial assessment of ecological constraints at the site of Nissan North America’s new corporate headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee. As part of this assessment an approximately 2.28-acre wetland was identified and delineated. Due to historic agricultural practices such as the installation of drainage tiles and planting of non-native pasture vegetation for grazing, this natural feature was highly degraded. After developing a matrix of options, BDY worked with Nissan North America, Inc. and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to permit the enhancement of existing degraded wetland resources on the site. BDY designed and oversaw construction and planting of over 50,000 native herbaceous wetland plugs.
